Organists required

An excellent opportunity with a super choir and a versatile comprehensive organ:

Director of Music for St. Margaret’s, Warnham RH12 3QW

We are looking for a new director of music, to lead the musical life of our church. Music is central to the worship at St. Margaret’s; we have a robed all-age SATB choir and large Wyvern organ.

Our main Sunday service is a CW Choral Eucharist, and we have two sung Evensongs a month, plus occasional festival services. The choir currently rehearses on Friday evenings.

First and foremost we need an organist and choir trainer, with a good knowledge of liturgy and choral repertoire. We are also quite eclectic, so if you do have a broader range of styles to offer, we’d be especially interested in your diversity.

We offer remuneration in line with RSCM guidelines.

ORGANIST REQUIRED

The Churchwardens of St Andrew & St Mary the Virgin, Fletching, East Sussex are seeking to appoint an organist from 1st January 2019.

Duties would involve playing at the Sunday Eucharist (10am) and at weddings and funerals, as needed. The New English Hymnal and Ancient & Modern are both used and the St Thomas Mass (David Thorne) is a regular part of the service. Where there is a fifth Sunday in the month, the service is contemplative, and without music.

An adult choir (not robed) leads the singing of hymns and there is a practice on the first Wednesday of every month.

The organ is of two manuals and built by Foster and Andrews in 1881.

Remuneration would be in line with RSCM recommendations with separate rates for funerals and weddings.
